White Bread (or potato)
- 2 loaves 4 loaves
- 2 1/2 C lukewarm liquid 4 1/2 C lukewarm liquid milk and/or water, milk and/or water
- 3 T sugar 6 sugar 1/4 C, 1/2 C
- 1 T salt 2salt
- 2 T shortening 4shortening
- 7 to 7 1/4 C flour 14 1/2 C flour
- 2 pkg yeast 3 pkg yeast
Use large bowl. Mix liquid, sugar, salt and yeast. Stir until dissolved. Then add shortening. Add flour in 2 parts. Let rise twice. Bake at 425° for 25 to 30 minutes.
*for Potato Bread:
Slice 2 potatoes, boil and mash in plate with fork. Add sugar and mash till smooth. Then add salt, liquid and yeast.
Use your left over potato water to make up full amount of liquid called for in the recipe. Then add flour like it says for White Bread recipe.
