Tasty Banana Cake

Course Cake


  • 1 pkg yellow cake mix
  • 1 1/4 C thinly sliced ripe bananas
  • 1 C buttermilk or sour milk
  • 1/4 C cold coffee
  • >>Glaze:<<
  • 1 C powdered sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 T butter or margarine
  • 1-2 T cold coffee


  1. Preheat oven to 350° (325° for colored fluted tube pan). Grease and flour 12-C fluted tube pan. In large bowl, blend first 5 ingredients; beat 2 min. at highest speed. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 40-50 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool upright in pan 45 min., turn onto serving plate. Cool completely. Mix Glaze ingredients until smooth; spoon over cake.
  2. *Tip: To make sour milk, combine 1 T vinegar or lemon juice and enough milk to make 1 C.
