Ingredients

  • 2/3 C shortening
  • 2 2/3 C sugar
  • 4 etggs
  • 1 can pumpkin 1 lb
  • 2/3 C water
  • 3 1/3 C flour
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 2/3 C chopped nuts
  • 2/3 C raising if desired

Instructions

  1. 350° oven. Grease loaf pans (2 or 3). Cream shortening and sugar till fluffy. Stir in eggs, pumpkin and water. Blend in flour, soda, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves. Stir in nuts and raisins.
  2. Pour into pans. Bake about 70 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
